Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy is one of the health professions which focuses on providing tools and skills for people with disabilities due to physical, mental, cognitive or communication impairments. The goal of occupational therapy is to treat and teach play and leisure skills, social skills, and learning and employment skills, which will enable independent living in the family and in society.
We believe that anyone can take an active part in the community, society and family. Occupational therapists at Beit Issie Shapiro provide each client with the necessary training and tools to function independently in all areas of life.
Upon arrival, the occupational therapist will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the client’s motor, cognitive, and functional abilities and limitations. Based on this assessment, the treatment plan will be built during which you will receive training and guidance on play, recreational activities, use of accessories and activities that match the client’s age and abilities. If eating difficulties arise from motor or sensory difficulties, you will receive thorough training on proper feeding, use of accessories and adjusting the food textures and types.
The treatment room is equipped with games, toys and accessories that create a warm, supportive and encouraging environment.
